Emergency Response

Emergency response provided for unregistered UST release at small, municipally-owned North Texas airport.

The release was encountered during construction and was related to a former underground storage tank (UST) that had previously been unregistered. Efforts included the monitoring of soil, air, and groundwater quality during the remainder of the construction effort to ensure proper segregation of impacted media and worker health and safety through a formal Health and Safety Plan. After construction was completed, the waste was properly managed with disposal off-site and the UST was further investigated, removed and closed through the state UST program.
